(Rubbings of) My Bedroom Unfolding Before Me consists of a series of charcoal rubbings in which the artist captures and displays elements of her bedroom at a 1:1 scale. After an extended period of experimentation and exploring intimate interiors through charcoal rubbings, Krikke started to hone in on the active mis-representation that takes place as the surface is abstracted in a charcoal rubbing. The artist treats the loss of information within these drawings as a liberating aspect of the medium, as it offers room for interpretation. Allowing viewers to imagine either the artist or themselves lying on, dancing in between and brushing their teeth in front of familiar domestic surfaces. Through applying titles, Krikke reveals intimate details about her daily routines, while maintaining a degree of privacy.
