FOSSEUM (SCENE)

The context of this project is the parking lot of Waalhaven noord in Rotterdam Zuid. In that industrial area, the parking lot is a social place. Just like a museum is social. The idea is that the museum fossilises the art. This project is a museum beyond the museum, which is an anthropocenic landscape. In that landscape the art is literally fossilised.

The art is now permanent and publicly accessible in this time capsule. My idea consists of layers of asphalt, sand, slib and clay that hold transparent glassy capsules which contain the art pieces. Art is stuck inside the walls in public space and permanently visible for visitors, unless the world ends. This research was expressed through collages, diagrams and models and led to a visualisation of a plexiglass model.
