The Future was today – Other Museum

Paulina Sycha

2022

The concept of ‘the Future was today’ questions the notion of the museum and/or the exhibition as a closed and final format for presenting curated data or knowledge embodied in the selection of objects on display. It delves into how the museum, as a space of knowledge production, is perceived and engaged with.

The Other Museum is an ever-expanding catalog—a shared and continually growing body of knowledge. It engages in constant conversations and operates as an open platform that can exist outside linear time, allowing the future to alter the present and the present to alter the past through collective exchange. It is only through enabling access to a multiplicity of narratives and positions that The Other Museum can fully emerge. Through interaction, it evolves into a museum, a space of communication, and a system of input-output cycles in constant flux.
