Drawing of a Drawing

The standardised methodology of making two-dimensional drawings imagining three-dimensional spaces has become a code of representation with its own language within the practise of architecture. In that search for understanding a drawing, we look for its instruments of depiction: scale, proportion, we recognise ratios of lines to identify doors, stairs and windows, we immediately assign an orientation according to the Cartesian system.

‘Drawing of a drawing’ is a critique on the practise of architectural drawing, rendering specific elements from the site it was placed in and made for through the perspectival toolset of spatial representation. The work is comprised of over 200m stainless steel welded ‘drawings’ collaged together into a multi-viewport plane inviting the viewer to walk around and recognise the surrounding space into the installation itself.
