Meet me at the linksvoor

This machine is about the duality of intimacy and anxiety which derived from personal experiences on the dance floor, in searching for a moment of queer joy and collective effervescence. Linksvoor (front left) is the most famous and cosiest place of any rave. It is used as a code and a designated space for queer people to find each other on the dance floor among all the sweaty bodies touching bodies, moving in synchronized beats. This is the spot where I get the feelings everyone has to some degree: longing for intimacy yet the anxiety prevents me from getting intimate with others. I cut myself open, expose myself to the intimacy boxed in a frame. It’s both putting on the costume in preparation for a night out and a barrier which I hide behind.
