Woven Spaces

As she weaves, the weaver becomes one with the creation, one with space and time…

The hand-crafted cloth was dipped in liquid porcelain and fired at a high temperature -1260oC. In the process, the yarn disappeared and what remained was a porcelain mask of the fabric. Originating from a seamless woven textile, the individual pieces construct an imitation of the initial form. Thus, the porcelain cloth becomes a memory of its former self and provides a tangible link to the past, offering an insight into the previous conditions of the material. The project explores the dimensional limitations of porcelain and seeks to examine the multiple scales of fabric within the interior. Through an intimate tactile experience, one is invited to inhabit Woven Spaces.
