Light is an essential and immaterial element in architecture that helps to define a space. Natural light changes throughout the day and night and consequentially changes our perception of spaces. Light transforms space with every passing moment of the sun’s movement.
House of the Winter Solstice reveals the importance of light in creating interior space. As light travels throughout the day it creates a sense of motion and temporary moods. It modifies and transforms the space and changes the perception. Different forms of illumination, shadows and darkness are main elements that create a light theatre in a room through time.
