Disorientation, Unknown Spaces

Theodora Kalamatianou

2017

Disorientation is an exploration, an expression of my spatial experience, going beyond the boundaries of orthographic projections. Navigating within the drawings, allows the eye to explore the represented space in a different way each time depending on the angle, the perspective and the light, conditions that determine the way we perceive every space.

The personal drawing language was developed as a reflection to the Alvin Boyarsky Collection. Driving from video footage, the 3D drawing of Disorientation was made out of overlapping layers of black plexiglass, 100x150cm. The physis of the material contributes to the observation and understanding of the depicted space. The Unknown Spaces are UV-printed on black plastic sheets, 42x59cm.
