Episodic Imagery

Throughout history, images enriched our sacral and profane interiors. These images had different meanings and functions. They were used as communication tools for story telling in order to pass on knowledge in times when the majority of people were analphabetic, or to display family or cultural heritage. Due to digitalization we are surrounded by images in the media and on the web, but in contrast we reduced or even banished our personal images and the embedded memories from our interiors. Nowadays, we store these images in the exile of the digital archive where they become intangible.

The project ‘Episodic Imagery’ investigates how to revive images in the domestic realm. It aims for a renaissance of archival material in order to re-experience depicted memories and to strengthen the lost relation between the image and architecture.
